For Everything There is a Season
Winter solstice is a time of letting go and letting in. It is a time for gracefully opening the stage to your darkness, your wildness. She needs breath if we are to live into our divine feminine. Today, I encourage each of us to think about our shadow selves, the selves we hold close and really prefer for others to not perceive. This penchant for hiding is a stifling habit and it no doubt leads to depression, constriction, health maladies, and estrangement from our childselves.
One way we can give voice to this shadow self is to forgive ourselves. What are the "mistakes" we have made that prevent us from moving forward and living fully? What are the secrets we keep, because we feel they are too worrisome, too shameful to express? How are we going to move on and manifest a more fulfilling reality? Let's be intentional: Make a list. Give voice. Release. Move with purpose.
For clarity:
"Four stages of forgiveness
- to forego--to leave it alone
- to forebear--to abstain from punishing
- to forget--to aver from memory, to refuse to dwell
- to forgive--to abandon the debt"
From Clarissa Pinkoa Estés' Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype
